FOREPLAY (PLEASURING): THE G-SPOT
Recent research has confirmed what many women have known all their lives, that the front wall of the vagina can be very sexually sensitive and can even produce orgasms when stimulated in the absence of clitoral stimulation. This area of the vaginal wall has been called the G-spot after the German gynaecologist, Ernst Grafenberg. It was he who suggested that there might be orgasmic centres other than the clitoris and many women know he was right — in fact some women can have pleasurable intercourse only in positions in which the penis stimulates the front wall of the vagina vigorously.
The G-spot is probably composed of a complex network of blood vessels, nerve endings and the tissue surrounding the bladder neck and the urethra. When a woman is unaroused it can hardly be felt but once” excited it can be felt as a hard area with defined edges. If the woman is very aroused this transformation takes place very rapidly. Although not all women have a
G-spot, it appears, the majority do.
A woman can find her own G-spot, though, and so can her lover. When a woman lies on her back this is difficult because gravity tends to pull the internal organs down and away from the vaginal entrance, so she would need a very long finger and a short vagina. The best position is sitting or squatting. Insert one or two fingers into your vagina and experiment with stimulating the front wall. The first sensation is usually one of wanting to urinate and it is sensible to try your first experiments with the G-spot whilst sitting on the lavatory. Explore the front part of your vaginal wall, perhaps even applying some pressure with your other hand on the lowest part of your abdomen just above the pubic bone. As the G-spot begins to swell you will feel it as a small lump between the two sets of fingers.
To the finger the G-spot feels like a small bean, but when swollen it can be an inch across. The size of the spot varies from woman to woman, as one would expect, and women vary in their enjoyment of the G-spot.
As you continue stroking the area you will probably notice some pleasurable contractions in your uterus. Experiment with this area, just as you did with your clitoris in the past, until you learn what is best. You will probably need greater finger pressure on your G-spot than on your clitoris to produce the same pleasant sensations and the sensations will be felt deeper inside you than when you masturbate clitorally.
As you get beyond the sensation of wanting to urinate you can move to a bed or somewhere more comfortable. Continue stimulating the spot while kneeling or sitting on your feet with your knees apart. Some women ejaculate a clear fluid from their urethra as they have an orgasm from stimulating their G-spot.
Of course you can share the discovery of your G-spot with your partner. The best position for doing this is with you lying face down, legs apart and your hips up on a pillow. Ask your partner to insert two fingers (palm down) and explore the front wall of your vagina with a firm touch. You can move your pelvis to enable his fingers to get the best possible contact with your G-spot. He can later insert his penis and stimulate the spot this way too. Another good position for finding the spot is to lie on your back and then have your partner insert two fingers palm up. He will feel the spot about half-way between the back of the pubic bone and the end of the vagina where the cervix is. Putting his other hand above your pubic bone at the very bottom of your abdomen, and pressing firmly can also help him find and stimulate the spot more easily.
Incidentally, it is probably worth remembering that many women who use a diaphragm as a means of contraception lose sensitivity of their G-spot as a result, because it cannot be adequately stimulated through the rubber dome. If you want your partner to stimulate your
G-spot, wait until the last moment until inserting your diaphragm-just before he puts his penis into you. For the woman who greatly enjoys stimulation of her G-spot during intercourse another method of contraception will be more suitable.
